Death Notice: Chuck Hefley, Emmaus Walk 57

CHUCK HEFLEY, long-time North Indiana Conference lay leader and supporter of camping and Epworth Forest, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009. A memorial service is tentatively planned for Saturday, July 11 at Grace United Methodist Church in Kokomo. The Rev. Steve Beutler, pastor of Kokomo Grace, reported that Hefley had hoped to be strong enough to attend Annual Conference.

Registration Reminders

There was some confusion during the registration period for the last couple of Walks. Here are some reminders on what Sponsors need to do when registering their Pilgrims for a Walk.

- All Registrations need to be sent to the Registrar, NOT TO ANYONE ELSE. This includes Lay Directors, Board Members, or any Team Member for a given walk. A registration is only valid when it's in the hands of the Registrar, and registration of a Pilgrim always gets delayed when it's given to someone else.

- All registrations must be IN THE HANDS OF THE REGISTRAR on or before the Cutoff Date for a Walk.
The Cutoff Date is set by the Board, and only the Board can extend or override that date. Neither the Lay Director nor any single Board Member can do that.
The purpose of the Cutoff Date is to allow final planning to occur for the Walk (name badges, amount of food to be bought, etc) and to allow Sponsors to collect what they need for their Pilgrim.
Please do not call the Registrar after the Cutoff Date asking to get a Pilgrim added. She is not empowered to override the Cutoff Date.

- Registrations CANNOT be Faxed to the Registrar. In order for a Registration to be processed, it MUST be accompanied by a check for the Deposit Amount (1/2 of the Total Walk Cost). Because a Check cannot be Faxed, there's no reason to Fax the registration form.

Screening Form Required for All Servants!

If you desire to serve on North Indiana Emmaus Community Flights or Walks (lay or clergy positions) in the future, you MUST complete and return a printed copy of the screening form. If you do not do so, you will no longer be eligible to serve and will not be called. You may download and print the document here, but the ORIGINAL WITH ORIGINAL SIGNATURE must be on file with North Indiana Emmaus Community. The mailing address is on the form. Fill it out and return it today!
